Executives and engineers from Siebel Energy Institute Industrial Advisory Board member RWE, including Chief Executive Officer Peter Terium and Senior Vice President of Strategy & Innovation Thomas Birr, participated in meetings with Siebel Energy Institute researchers at UC Berkeley.

Over two separate visits this past fall and winter, the RWE visitors learned about Siebel Energy Institute seed grant projects in areas such as distribution grid control, electric vehicle infrastructure, and grid reliability.

RWE is one of Europe’s five leading electricity and gas companies and the second largest power producer in Germany. Nearly 60,000 employees work to supply over 16 million customers with electricity and 7 million customers with gas. RWE Generation currently has one of the most modern and efficient power plant fleets in Europe – with a strong presence in Germany, the UK and the Netherlands.

The Industrial Advisory Board is an exclusive industry partner program that fosters active collaboration between the private sector and Siebel Energy Institute members and researchers. Members, including senior officials from energy companies and utilities, and other stakeholder organizations, act as advisors, reviewers, and mentors, offering timely input on energy-sector-related industrial and societal needs and trends.
